I wanted to create artwork for Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon that mirrored a few defining features of the film.

Firstly, Ethan Hawke’s mesmerizing performance that levitates you through its plot. For this I needed to have his face be prominent in the composition.

Secondly, a melancholic feeling—one that has you acknowledging both Lorenz Hart’s captivating charm and deep despair.

Finally, some of the actual elements defined in Lorenz’s tragedy, like unrequited love and self destruction through alcoholism.
