Poster Design for Jake Kasdan’s 2023 Film, Red One

A challenge unique to this piece—designing for a film I didn't particularly enjoy. Jake Kasdan’s Red One leans fully into spectacle and is the epitome of an exploitation film (in all the wrong ways), and I wanted this design to push back against that instinct entirely.

The concept buried underneath the noise—Santa Claus has been taken. Stripped of the chaos, that could be a compelling mystery and thriller. The faceless figure at the center of the composition leans into that unease, stripping an iconic character of his warmth and replacing it with something unknown and unsettling.

Lastly, with high contrast, a deliberately limited palette, and grain effect, hopefully I achieved an identity that feels pulled from a different era of filmmaking.

This isn't the film that was made, it's the one that took its own idea seriously.
